12.06.2023

As part of BEYSAD's activities, we continue to organize "Professional Business Trips" in order to visit the factories of our members, to improve mutual cooperation and to help our members to evaluate business opportunities. In this context, we made a very pleasant trip to Borcelik Gemlik Facilities on Monday, June 12, 2023 with approximately 30 people from 14 BEYSAD member companies.

Borcelik, Turkey's largest and highest quality galvanized steel producer, has always been with us as a member of BEYSAD for many years, both by participating in our meetings and with their ideas. We would like to thank the esteemed Borçelik family for hosting the first of our business trips in the new management period of our association.

BEYSAD’s President of the Board D. Yasemin Aksu made the following assessment about the event: “BEYSAD has prominent members of the iron and steel industry of Turkey, who are at the top of the ISO 500 lists, like Borçelik among its 200 members, mostly SMEs, from a wide spectrum. We would like to thank the esteemed Borçelik family for sincerely and transparently sharing the steps they have taken to train their own human resources and the work they have done within the scope of Green Transformation, which is closely related to our sector, with a hosting that reflects the cooperation, experience and teamwork values of BEYSAD. We welcome all our members to our professional business trips, which we consider important and which will continue, in order to ensure the interaction of our members and the spread of good practices among our members.”

In the program, which started with Borçelik's corporate presentation, valuable information was given. After the welcoming speech of Borçelik White Goods Sector Sales Manager Eren Büyükçoban and the company's general briefing, Borçelik Customer Technical Services Manager Çağrı Önen and Management Systems Director Serkan Ürkmez talked about "Climate", "Human" and the 2030 and 2050 targets, roadmap, important projects and good practice examples in the focus areas that they determined as “innovation” were shared with the participants. In the presentation, which also gave information about the transformation of the steel industry, it was shared that Borçelik will reduce its emissions by 47% until 2030, zero it by 2050, and reduce its water consumption and non-metal waste sent to storage/incineration by 50% until 2030.

Emre Bülbül, Borcelik Technical Academy (BTA) and Quality Management Systems Manager, introduced the Vocational and Technical Education, Education Technologies and Vocational Certification and Certification studies carried out within Borcelik Technical Academy to the participants. Participants had the opportunity to experience the Real Time Bridge Crane Simulator and Welding Simulator used in the training processes. The practices and results of BTA's Social Responsibility No Hard Jobs for Women, This Business is Equality Business and Borçelik Vocational High School Coaching Program were conveyed to the participants.

Within the scope of Sustainability and Borçelik Technical Academy, views were exchanged on joint studies with BEYSAD.

After the presentation at the event, a factory tour was started. Borcelik, which is the largest and highest quality galvanized steel producer in Turkey with three cold rolling and three hot-dip galvanizing lines, continues its production activities in its facilities of 240 thousand square meters in Gemlik.

After the factory tour, which was quite informative and comprehensive, dinner and conversation took place in Borcelik guesthouse. We would like to thank the Borçelik family once again for hosting this trip, which we hope will be a good trip and networking for our members.
