BEYSAD – OzU Competence Center operations underway
3 August 2018

Recently, a decision has been made to conduct a project with UNDP called Governance and Shareholder Model Overseas Example Reviews for our BEYSAD – Özyeğin University Competence Center project.

The goal of this project is;
BEYSAD carries out operations to continuously improve the governance and shareholder model for its ongoing Competence Center. Accordingly, the goal of the aforementioned project is to ensure the exchange of the activities performed in collaboration with TTGV as a part of the project with UNDP regarding the commercialization of R&D’s, one of the main topics as a part of the Total Factor Efficienct Policy Framework Development Support Project, and the requirement to form solid interfaces among SME’s, universities, and the government as one of the recommendations, and interaction with our project.

In this scope, the first Prior Briefing Meeting was held on Friday, August 3, 2018 in Istanbul Fashion Academy, a good example in this respect in our opinion, with UNDP, the Ministry, OzU, and Burak Özaydemir and Ayşegül Koç on behalf of BEYSAD. The purpose was to visit Istanbul Fashion Academy, as it was founded with a similar purpose and incentive as BEYSAD’s project, and to listen to the advantages and disadvantages at first hand. It was a very helpful meeting.

….

After the Prior Briefing, a meeting was held in Özyeğin University Technology Transfer Office (TTO) Hall on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 10.00 AM to 04.00 PM which was moderated by Özyeğin University.

The meeting was attended by 14 people comprised of executives from Arçelik, Vestel, the public and BEYSAD. During this meeting, the report prepared by TTGV as a part of the Total Factor Efficienct Policy Framework Development Support Project which dwelled on the running and corporate structures of Fraunhofer, DFKİ, and TTGV was presented and answers were given to questions about these institutions.

Recommendations about the planned Center were presented based on the example institutions.

It was extremely pleasing to have the full support of our main industries during these exchanges and to talk about improving together.

With this workshop, a well-attended shareholder group’s opinions were gained accompanied by a professional moderation and these opinions were reported.

Reminder about the project:

BEYSAD prepared a project with a 10-million-Euro budget named “Digital Transformation of SMEs in Turkey through Establishment of the Industry 4.0. Competence Center” for the ACTIVITY 1.1 MANUFACTURING INDUSTRIES call made by the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology Competitive Sectors Program (IPA-II) from 06.04.2017-05.07.2017. We would like to remind you with pride that we made our official application in collaboration with Özyeğin University and TÜSİAD and completed the assessment procedure successfully, and were selected to be among the 9 top projects.

With this project, our country and sector will have a Competence Center, similar to those in the USA and EU, that has the technical infrastructure and team to support our members regarding pilot projects, consultancy, training and R&D during their Industry 4.0 Transformation. With the establishment of the Competence Center, the sub-sectors of the white goods sector including electronics, chemical, glass, and plastic sectors will have significant gains; at the Center member companies will receive technical consultancy, there will be an infrastructure to try pilot projects, a training infrastructure will be available, trainings and certificate programs will be offered to raise qualified human resources for the sector, and advanced researches will be possible with the University academic staff.

Our operations with the respective authorised institutions are ongoing.
